The “Discovery Home” at Squam River Landing is a thoughtfully planned, carefully crafted, high performance home, inspired by the heritage of the cottages and camps of the Squam Lakes. Designed and built by Sippican Partners Construction, our ‘Discovery Home’ is a learning center for understanding how to finance, budget, design, build and operate a new home in today’s market. Come see why our home was chosen to participate in the 2013 NH Lakes Region Parade of Homes!
Squam River Landing is excited to announce our participation in this year's Lakes Region Builders & Remodelers Association Parade of Homes. The Discovery Home architecture was designed by Sippican Partners Construction and is influenced by the Squam Lake cottage camps of yesteryear and built with today’s high performance construction. A typical home that is featured in the Parade of Homes is staged and furnished but our thinking on the Discovery Home is different- our home will be staged in a way that educates today's potential home buyers.
Tuckerman’s Ravine is a forbidding and barren rock face locally known as the birthplace of extreme skiing. The highest wind speeds ever recorded, waterfalls and massive boulders converge to serve as the foundation to hold a winters worth of snow measuring up to a depth of 150 feet. Each spring, as the harsh edges of the passing winter eases, the challenge to conquer this ravine begins, and the formidable obstacles are overcome. The climb to base camp demands strength, endurance, tenacity and purpose. The descent is an act of faith, followed by clear sense of accomplishment. The ravine conquered, the obstacles overcome, the goal achieved.
New Hampshire is well known for its access to all things outdoors. In fact CNBC voted New Hampshire as "the best state to live in" for 2012 based on a quality of life ranking system. We could go on and on about how great we think this part of the world is but let's just jump right into what we think are the best walking trails around Squam Lake. A short drive from Squam River Landing is the Chamberlain-Reynolds Memorial Forest. The forest, locally known as "NEFFA", has been managed by the Squam Lakes Association since 1953 when it was donated by the New England Forestry Foundation.
I was speaking with a customer recently who is going to build a home here at Squam River Landing. Our discussion prompted him to ask a simple question yet my answer gave both of us a greater appreciation for life here at Squam. He asked, “What makes living at Squam Lake special compared to other beautiful lake communities”? I need to first point out that the answer is really more about the “why” and not the “what." Yes, there are many areas in and around New Hampshire to have a home whether you enjoy living near the water or the mountains. Squam Lake like other areas in the lakes region of New Hampshire has many homes with owners from away. This means the homes are considered vacation or second homes for the residents.
